Vaccination

🛡️ Why Vaccinate Your Pets?

Vaccinating your pets is one of the most effective ways to protect them from life-threatening diseases and ensure a long, healthy life. It’s not just about your pet—it’s about protecting your family, your community, and other animals too.

🌟 What Vaccines Protect Against

🐶 For Dogs:
  • Parvovirus – Causes severe vomiting and bloody diarrhea; often fatal.

  • Distemper – Affects the respiratory and nervous systems; highly contagious.

  • Hepatitis – Can lead to liver failure and death.

  • Parainfluenza & Adenovirus Type 2 – Cause respiratory infections.

  • Rabies – Fatal and transmissible to humans; mandatory by law in South Africa.

  • Optional: Leptospirosis & Bordetella (Kennel Cough) based on lifestyle.

🐱 For Cats:
  • Panleukopenia (Feline Distemper) – Severe vomiting and diarrhea; highly contagious.

  • Rhinotracheitis & Calicivirus – Cause upper respiratory infections.

  • Optional: Feline Leukemia Virus (FeLV) for outdoor or multi-cat households.

💉 How Vaccines Work

Vaccines introduce a safe version of a virus or bacteria to your pet’s immune system, teaching it to recognize and fight off the real disease if exposed later.

📅 Vaccination Schedule

  • Puppies & Kittens: Start at 6–8 weeks, with boosters every 3–4 weeks until 16 weeks old.

  • Adults: Annual boosters yearly depending on age and vaccine type.

  • Rabies: Required annually by law.

✅ Why It Matters

  • Protects Against Deadly Diseases.

  • Reduces Spread to Other Pets & Humans.

  • Required for Pet Insurance & Travel.

  • Saves on Costly Treatments.

  • Ensures Legal Compliance.
